One of the recognized benefits of running a Nexus is the promptness of software updates, which extends to security patches. Today, Google has begun to roll out its October Security Bulletin for Nexus devices running Android Nougat and Marshmallow, along with the Pixel C tablet.

Security updates may not offer the new features and noticeable performance enhancements that we all enjoy. Nevertheless, they are an important part of the Android diet. In this month’s edition, Google has patched a sum total of 31 different vulnerabilities, many of which are deemed either ‘high’ or ‘critical’ on the severity scale.

The bulletin should reach your device over-the-air very soon it hasn’t already. Should you wish to take a more proactive stance and apply the update immediately — not a bad move given the numerous security fixes — you can do so by hitting the source link below and grabbing the requisite factory image for your device.
