User reports of iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s/6s Plus handsets arriving with an Activation Lock issue are surfacing on Twitter. The problem is presented upon powering on the smartphones for the first time, or in the case of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – restoring them to factory settings. In both cases, users end up with iPhones locked to an Apple ID and email address that are not their own. They are effectively locked out of their handsets and are unable to proceed.

Thankfully, Apple support and employees at the company’s Genuis bars in Apple stores have proven understanding of the problem and have managed to resolve the issues. In case your iPhone suddenly acts up, calling Apple or taking the handset to the nearest Genius Bar will be your best bet.

Apple hasn’t addressed the issue yet.
