We’ve seen several leaks for the SM-W2017. This is Samsung’s high-end Android powered clamshell handset. The phone could be released this month in China, priced at the equivalent of $1498 USD. Just recently, the device has been certified by the U.S. FCC, which revealed that the unit will carry a 2300mAh battery. Quick Charge 3.0 will allow the cell to charge up quickly. Android 6.0.1 is pre-installed.
A previous trip through the GFXBench benchmark site reveals that the phone will carry a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Snapdragon 820 SoC will power the phone, carrying a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of flash storage. A fingerprint scanner will be found on the side of the handset, along with a heart rate monitor. A 12MP camera adorns the back of the unit, with a 5MP front-facing snapper handling selfies and video chats. A Type-C USB port is on board, as is support for Samsung Pay.
Getting certified by the FCC doesn’t necessarily mean that the phone is going to be offered in the U.S. However, if Samsung does have such intentions, at least it will have already taken care of securing the FCC’s approval.
